Monday Wx

As a low pressure system approaches on Monday, with it will come plenty of rain, showers, and possible thunderstorms. This, along with current snow melt, could make for some pretty good flooding throughout the state. There are already Flood Watches issued for most of PA. There is a high potential for more watches, warnings, and advisories to pop up, so do keep a watchful eye on tomorrow's weather; should be a busy day!

Weekend Blurb

After the major storm of Friday, we return to calmer weather this weekend.  Snow will fall across Northern PA (mainly along NY-PA border and North of I 80), watch if any advisory get posted.  Besides that Flood Watches will most likely be posted this weekend for the nice warm weather of Monday.

Friday Wx

Hello all,

We are without any doubt in a very active regime, with a cornucopia of advisories, watches, and warnings throughout the Commonwealth, ranging from Winter Storm Warnings to Flood Watches to High Wind Warnings. This is due to the rather strong low pressure system that is currently causing the severe weather outbreak in the southeastern United States. As the low tracks through the Commonwealth on Friday, be prepared for heavy rain and gusty winds as the cold front moves through. Although the precipitation will be subsiding throughout the day, the flooding potential remains high due to melting snow packs. Be prepared for any new advisories being posted, especially for wind and flooding.

On a semi-related note, Monday looks like a good pattern for some thundershowers!

Wednesday Blurb

Sunshine should rule the skies today under high pressure building in from the west.  Temperatures should reach around freezing.  Unless CTP (State College NWS) is on something, no watches or warnings or advisories should be posted (even for Friday's delight).

Enjoy the sunshine and 6" of snow :D.

Monday Blurb

After a fun filled THON weekend, Mother Nature is rearing her ugly head at us today with snow.  Warnings, Watches and Advisories are popping up and popping down this morning.  Please watch and update as necessary.  Second round of snow will be moving through this evening for South Central and Southwest parts of the state.

Friday Wx

Hello all,

Unfortunately, our honeymoon with springlike temperatures will be cut short Friday, as a cold front will begin to pass through the Commonwealth from mid-morning in the northwest to the afternoon and the evening in the southeast. There will be scattered showers from the approaching front, but they should be on the light side. Because of this, I am not concerned about any decent threat of advisories being posted, but it is always good practice to keep an eye out for it.

Thursday Blurb

Flood watch is in effect for our New York Counties, they are already called in.  Rest of the state should be fine for tomorrow.  Concerns of flooding should be low for now but check weather.gov for any watches that might appear for Friday into Saturday.

Wednesday Blurb

Sunshine will rule the skies for the next few days as high pressure builds in over NC/VA Coast.  Unless something wacky happens, no severe wx is predicted to occur.

Monday Wx

Hello everyone,

Things are finally quieting down in Pennsylvania, and with a warm-up on the way! Currently, there's nothing in the way of rain or snow, but it's getting blustery out there. Sustained NW winds of 20-25 mph are possible, with gusts potentially reaching 45-50 mph. A few advisories have already been issued from Bradford all the way south into Johnstown, so watch out for any more that may pop up.

Weekend Blurb

A warm up?  Sadly yes.  But before that we will be dealing with two light clippers passing for Western and North Central PA Saturday and Sunday.  Nothing should not really accumulate, but watch out for any advisories.  Other than that it should be mostly to partly cloudy for the rest of the state.  For those still here, enjoy the quiet campus.

Friday Wx

Hello all,

We are experiencing rather chilly weather throughout the Commonwealth, with cloud streams coming from the west. There are also a few Wind Chill Advisory counties in the northwest region of the state, slated to expire at 10am. These should expire because of the warm air advection that will occur when the high pressure system will slide to the east. This is all ahead of relatively weak clipper systems that will affect the area this weekend. Snow showers or flurries should start late Friday night. Although the clipper systems will be rather weak, just keep an eye out for any alerts in the extreme northern reaches of our coverage area.

Thursday Blurb

Good evening!
There really is not any potential for severe weather over the next few days according to the models. The only thing to look out for is Wind Chill Advisories as temperatures will dip into the single digits tomorrow night.

Wednesday Blurb

COLD!!!!  Wind Chill Advisory for all of BFB listening area until 10am, same from WKBI, and WCNS for Indiana County until 10am.  It is going to be cold today and tonight, so once again we will have to watch for wind chill as temperatures drop like flies to around 0.  This is as high pressure from the Northern Rockies moves south and east into the Mid-west and TN River valley.

Monday Severe Weather Blurb

Clouds will remain with us as we have a storm system from the south push its way north into our region.  Snow will mix with rain, and minor acculumations will occur.  Please watch out for any advisories that might pop up.

Happy Monday.

Weekend Blurb

Early Morning to you all:

The weekend will feature two stories.  One being Saturday of snow-sleet-freezing rain, and Sunday sunshine.  At the time all advisories for the Saturday system have been called in.  But please check to make sure if any new ones pop up that they are called in.  Sunday looks to be the better of the two days with sunshine, just in time for basketball.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Wx

Hello all,

For once in a long time, virtually all of the state is currently under clear skies! Not much will be happening during Friday, but this will transition during the night into a period of mixed precipitation throughout the Commonwealth during the weekend. The northeastern counties of Carbon and Monroe already have a Winter Storm Watch in effect from late Friday night through Saturday evening.
Based on that, be on the lookout (especially during the latter half of the day) for any watches, advisories, or warnings being posted during the day for the weekend storm.

-- Nick Parker

Thursday Blurb

Finally the storm has moved off shore and tomorrow we will see a possible flurry in the morning and mostly cloudy skies throughout the day. No threats for severe weather, but the wind may pose a threat. Keep an eye out for the storm approaching the area on Saturday!

Wednesday Blurb

Good Evening everyone:

The second bang of the two bang storm will begin tonight tonite and will leave the state late morning in the west, to late afternoon in the east.  Everything is called in as of now, if anything changes, aka someone goes under ICE STORM WARNING, it needs to be called in right away.  So watch radar, and State College WFO, as the main www.weather.gov is still having issues.

Enjoy the weather!
