Monday Wx

Hello everyone,

The nicer weather we saw today is unfortunately coming to an end, as a major winter storm is headed our way from the Midwest. Currently, winter storm watches are covering almost the entire region, with the exception of the very northeastern tip of PA. Definitely monitor this situation carefully tomorrow, as these watches could very well turn into warnings. I think we can easily see up to 3-4 inches of snow from this storm, before turning into mostly sleet and freezing rain on Tuesday. Stay tuned for tomorrow's update!

Weekend Blurb

Evening,

A clipper system will provide snow for the region on Saturday.  Please watch for any advisories that do pop up.  I do believe the models are under doing the clipper.  Look at today for reference.  Sunday will be nice and partly sunny.  Our eyes turn to the west next week yet again.

Friday Wx

Hello all,

This week has been fairly active snow-wise, and Friday will be no exception. Currently, snow showers associated with a clipper system are moving through the northwest areas of the Commonwealth. As for duration, the clipper should clear the area by Friday night. Accumulations in the affected areas shouldn't exceed an inch, but higher elevations may see greater amounts of snow. I'm not expecting much in the way of watches, warnings, or advisories, due to the relatively disorganized nature of the clipper. Looking forward to the weekend, a stronger and more organized clipper system will affect the area, so stay tuned for tomorrow's update!

Thursday Blurb

Today we will see lingering snow flurries. As the clipper moves off of the coast, temperatures will warm up into the upper 20s and quite possibly the lower 30s. Do not expect any advisories or watches as severe weather will not be an issue throughout the day.

Wednesday Blurb

Evening all:

Hope all of you have enjoyed your mild Tuesday, and have looked and scratched, and pondered on what the hell is coming for tomorrow.  Sadly we will see hardly any snow here as a storm system works its way up the coast.  Places to the South and East of us have already gone under advisories.  State College is calling about 2" for us and surrounding areas, including some of our counties that we must watch.  Therefore I expect some of BFB and WKBI to go under Winter Weather Advisories for the storm.  I will give everyone an equal shot to get these called in if they happen.  If they are not called in by 10:30am, I will call them in.  Also WCNS has Eastern Westmoreland County under a Winter Weather Advisory, this too must be called in by 10:30am tomorrow before I call it in.  I am doing this so that you guys can get some points, and it is just not me calling everyone in, this is a team effort.

Clouds increasing tonight, which will manage to keep overnight lows in the mid-teens.  Increasing clouds will give way to light snow flurries throughout the day.  No potential for severe weather today.  No continuing watches/warnings/advisories.

Weekend Blurb

Cold, Cold Cold.  Coupled with the wind, will make it feel definitely below 0, especially at night.  Besides that we should remain clear through Tuesday.  Just watch out for any wind chill advisories that could be posted.  High Pressure begins to build in.  The first time this happens before a potential storm for next week...

Friday Wx

Hello All,

Friday should shape up to be an interesting day weather-wise. The current snowfall experienced throughout the commonwealth should move out of the picture as the Winter Weather Advisory expires at 9AM Friday morning. As the low moves off towards New England, it should also deepen, which will strengthen the northwest winds associated with the low's departure. Although the relatively strong winds will cause blowing snow throughout the state, it will also bring in much colder temperatures for the weekend. I'm not expecting too much activity after the storm passes, but keep on the lookout for anything that is associated with the wind and cold.

Thursday Blurb

Morning all:

Sorry for the lateness in this.

Today will we see cloudy conditions as a storm system from the west moves into our region.  Weather Advisories have been posted for all of PA with the exception of the NE (looks like someone is sleeping in Binghamton).  I called yesterday WCNS for the Winter Weather Advisory.  At the moment BFB and WKBI still need to be called in, PLEASE EMAIL ME if you call in these two stations.

Wednesday Blog

Evening all:

After last night's slop and this evening slop, we will remain cloudy and await our second storm of the week which will produce snow for us (fingers crossed).  At the moment, we are under a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of BFB which I have called in.  Just check NWS once tomorrow to make sure nothing gets issued with this upcoming storm.

Have a good night,

Tuesday 1/18/2011

As a low pressure system continues to creep up the Atlantic Coast into the Northeast, snow showers will be making their way into Central PA throughout the night.  Temperatures will be on the rise tomorrow which will support a wintry mix starting in the morning.  Expect ~1 inch of snow by morning with icy conditions.  The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for much of Central PA lasting until 1 PM Tuesday 1/18 which includes an advisory of snow and mix precipitation.

Monday Severe Weather Blurb

Evening All:

Well what an upcoming week for us!  This week we will once again see two storms merge over the Northeast.  Sad news this is not the same set up that dumped 20"+ inches for majority of Connecticut, this time the merging of the storms will be late and over Northern New England.  So what does this spell for us?  ICE.  The storms are not predicted to come into our region until Tuesday, but because the dangerous situation especially up in the mountains, watches, advisories and warnings are most likely to be posted over the next 36 hours. This will be the case for all 3 radio clients.  So get tweeting fingers and phones ready, its going to be fun watching this!

Have an excellent day off tomorrow!
